Fan Use Linked to Lower Risk of Sudden Baby Death
, 10 21st, 2008I recently viewed a story on FOX News that discussed the effect the use of a fan has on Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) and found it very interesting. In October, 2008, the Associated Press reported:
using a fan to circulate air seemed to
lower the risk of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome.
SIDS is defined as the sudden death of an otherwise healthy infant that can’t be attributed to any other cause. It is possible these babies may have brain abnormalities that prevent them from gasping and waking up when they don’t get enough oxygen.Of course, experts say placing babies on their backs to sleep is still the best way to prevent SIDS. They also recommend a firm mattress, removing all toys and pillows from cribs, and keeping infants from getting too warm.
This new study offers parents another way to make sure
babies get enough air while they sleep.
During the study, researchers took into account other risk factors and found that fan use was associated with a 72% lower risk of SIDS. Using a fan reduced risk most for babies in poor sleeping environments.
Custom Pooh Fan completes Pooh Nursery
, 09 04th, 2008
My sister was so excited when she found out she was having a baby. When I asked her about the nursery decor, there was absolutely no hesitation in her voice: the baby was going to have a Winnie The Pooh Nursery. Being her sister (and the baby’s Aunt), I wanted to find a truly unique gift for the nursery. Something that no one else would have thought of. I decided to purchase a Pooh ceiling fan for the room. Boy, am I ever glad that I did!! Not only does it match the rooms decor perfectly, my new niece just loves to lay in the crib and watch it turn around.
Not just a fan - its a focal point!!
, 08 20th, 2008As most parents know, mobiles are great. That is, until Baby becomes mobile; then it is considered a safety hazard and has to be removed. You are then left with a crying baby and no focal point to lull your little angel to sleep. As a Mother of two myself, I went through the same thing. That is, until we installed this wonderfully colorful Winnie the Pooh ceiling fan. At bedtime, I simply turn the lights down low (allowing just enough light so my little one can see the design) and turn the fan on it’s lowest setting. It works like a charm!! Best of all, it’s not only a wonderfully creative focal point for our child, it also helps us lower our heating and cooling costs too!!
